“IKCU EERI 2025 Team: Competing with Creative High-Rise Designs!”
The student team from the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) at İzmir Katip Çelebi University is making a mark at SDC 2025 with high-rise models made of balsa wood. They are elevating their designs in terms of aesthetics, performance, and durability.
As the IKCU EERI 2025 Team, we aim to develop innovative solutions in engineering and achieve maximum efficiency through optimal investments with these solutions. Embracing sustainable design principles to contribute to the future forms the foundation of our vision. Our mission is to promote learning and development by applying our engineering knowledge in practice.
About Us
As the IKCU Seismic Team, we are a group of students participating in earthquake-resistant building and bridge design competitions within the İzmir Katip Çelebi University Earthquake Engineering Application and Research Center. With the modern laboratory infrastructure and academic support provided by our center, we are developing innovative projects. Our goal is to make a difference in engineering by achieving success in national and international competitions.
Our Achievements
We successfully represented Turkey at the Seismic Design Competition held in Seattle in 2024, where the leading 40 universities from around the world participated. We ranked first among Turkish universities and seventh overall. The IKCU Team also received the 'Egor Popov Award for Structural Innovation' for its innovative dampers.
